Watering animals in the winter

IMG_4499.IMG_4528My usual mode of transportation carrying water to the barn is with the “Vermont Cart” – but with all of this snow we just got the cart is taking a break and the usual winter transportation mode is in full force… the much used & loved baby sled.  I had a hard time parting with it once the kids grew up – then it occurred to me .. a winter water sled.  It works beautifully.  Last year the runners broke & it was more like a chore to get it to the barn but Chris installed new runners (using an old pair of wooden cross country skis  – now it works perfectly.  I can fill up two five gallon buckets with warm water from the wood stove – put covers on – and away I go without a drop spilled.
